Zeitgeist Gallery & Bar in Durham is accepting artist submissions for its next group exhibition, The Imprint of Faith: What Has Been Given, What Has Been Taken.
Faith. Religion. Worship. Spirituality. Each has left an imprint on many of our lives, often by shaping our communities, our cultures, and even our mental health. For some, faith has given hope, peace, belonging, and resilience. For others, it has been twisted with trauma, shame, exclusion, or loss. Sometimes, it is both.
As artists, we have the opportunity to explore and share these experiences through a multitude of mediums and ideas. Through art, we can examine the ways faith and spirituality have influenced our identities, relationships, and understanding of the world.
For this exhibition at Zeitgeist, we invite you to submit (or create) work that reflects the role faith, religion or spirituality has played in your life. This may include organized religion, personal spirituality, cultural traditions, or any belief system that has shaped your life, your community, or your mental well-being.
During this holiday season, we aim to support thoughtful conversation through art. What has faith, religion or spirituality given you? What has it taken away? How has it changed the way you see yourself and the world around you?
